TechAssistLA has met its original goal of assisting 50 small businesses and non-profits with funds still left in the 2007-2008 budget. The remaining funds are being focused on the most requested deliverables - QuickBooks Training, Seminars on web and web marketing issues, website consulting and specialized consulting which includes hardware and software audits and other IT needs. "There is a great need for website consulting" says Program Director, Will Norris, "updating existing sites and building new sites, especially in CMS (content management system). Web is the number one issue for businesses followed by questions on where to go next with technology. Businesses and non-profits are coming to TechAssistLA asking for advice on streamlining their offices and planning affordable hardware/software upgrades."

The future USS NEW YORK will be used to transport and land Marines and their equipment. The ship name is a tribute to the state and city of New York, as the ship incorporates construction steel salvaged from the World Trade Centers. LA Ethics 1 Endorses Governor Jindal's Governmental Ethics Reform Package

Baton Rouge, La. (February 12, 2008) – LA Ethics 1, the statewide coalition of business and civic organizations pushing for governmental ethics reform in Louisiana, today endorsed Governor Bobby Jindal’s progressive package for sweeping governmental ethics reforms.

The results of the current legislative session could dramatically improve the negative brand image that has long been associated with Louisiana as well as make the state a national model for governmental ethics laws and enforcement. Enhancing the perception of our state across the country would improve our communities’ ability to attract new business investment and foster economic growth.

The coalition, which successfully passed three ethics reform bills in last year’s regular session, looks forward to working with the administration and the Legislature in refining and passing responsible and thorough legislation that raises the state to the top of national rankings. Carl J. Bentley is Vice President of Strategic Staffing Solutions’ corporate team and manages the day-to-day operations of its largest branch, the Detroit branch, as well as several other branch locations across the U.S. Bentley has nearly 40 years of experience in management and information technology. His contributions have afforded S³ success in excellent customer service and marketing which has been a central part of the company’s continued growth. In early 2006, the LTC entered into a strategic partnership with the State of Louisiana and the Louisiana Department of Economic Development (LED). LED has provided funding for the LTC to develop and implement a business recovery / office incubator center for Greater New Orleans small businesses hard hit by Hurricane Katrina. The center focuses on helping technology companies but any business can participate. The LTC/LED – Business Recovery Center (BRC) currently serves as temporary office space for several displaced businesses who might otherwise have had to close their doors. Each company located in the center pays a small fee for the space and the multiple services provided to them. The BRC has received additional donations from the Pittsburgh Technology Council (20 IBM laptop computers), Cox Business Services (high-speed internet and phone service) and Waldemar S.
