ROBERT BERNING PRODUCTIONS, INC. PRODUCES FILM DOCUMENTING NORTHROP GRUMMAN'S NEW YORK (LPD 21)

METAIRIE, LA –MAR. 5, 2008) Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding commissioned Robert Berning Productions, Inc. to develop a film about the new Navy vessel, New York (LPD 21), currently under construction at the shipbuilder’s Avondale, Louisiana shipyard. The future USS NEW YORK will be used to transport and land Marines and their equipment. The ship name is a tribute to the state and city of New York, as the ship incorporates construction steel salvaged from the World Trade Centers. The primary reason for using the steel was to symbolize the strength and resiliency of New Yorkers while honoring those who lost their lives in the 9-11-01 attacks. The film makes use of personal storytelling, revealing the connection between the shipyard workers and members of the September 11th Families’ Association. Titled Walking in the Wake of Heroes, the film is a documentary on four shipbuilders who work on LPD 21 and their journey to New York City to meet with survivors and family members of victims...

LA Ethics 1 Endorses Governor Jindal's Governmental Ethics Reform Package

Baton Rouge, La. (February 12, 2008) – LA Ethics 1, the statewide coalition of business and civic organizations pushing for governmental ethics reform in Louisiana, today endorsed Governor Bobby Jindal’s progressive package for sweeping governmental ethics reforms.

The results of the current legislative session could dramatically improve the negative brand image that has long been associated with Louisiana as well as make the state a national model for governmental ethics laws and enforcement. Enhancing the perception of our state across the country would improve our communities’ ability to attract new business investment and foster economic growth.

The coalition, which successfully passed three ethics reform bills in last year’s regular session, looks forward to working with the administration and the Legislature in refining and passing responsible and thorough legislation that raises the state to the top of national rankings. Coalition members also urge Louisiana citizens to get involved in the process by contacting their legislators in support of comprehensive governmental ethics reform.

The BRC has received additional donations from the Pittsburgh Technology Council (20 IBM laptop computers), Cox Business Services (high-speed internet and phone service) and Waldemar S. Nelson Company (office furnishings). For more information, about the center please contact Michelle Hansen at...
